This was my first real aluminum welding project. I built the entire thing the night before we were supposed to leave to go to Canada for a few days at Mont Tremblant. Unfortunately I didn't have all the pieces I wanted for it, so I had to use flat stock for the pieces that attach to the factory rack (instead of C-channel) and I didn't have enough 1x1 square tubing to put a piece across the back. Still, I think it came out pretty well.
The rack sticks out over the rear hatch and unfortunately requires an extra inch or so to not hit the rear glass.
My aluminum welding certainly isn't as pretty as my steel welding.
Those are some really big tires!
How many other production cars can fit 315's in the rear with minimal modification?!
The car is riding a bit low, packed with Chris, Callie, Conrad, myself, our tent, mattress, clothes, tools, everything you'd need for a week at the track!
